  1. Dryer failed twice from 2006

    • Pros: washes well, but dryer keeps breaking down.
    • Cons: Dryer broken down twice within 3 months

    Broke down first time, engineer sent tested it, said nothing wrong with it, but decided he will change the thermostat and heating unit.

    After afew months broken down and engineer changed heating unit and element.

    Broken down again and engineer coming next week.

    Miele says they cann't change the machine because not bought directly from them, as much as it was bought from a Miele dealer.

    • Pros: Fully programmable, efficient
    • Cons: Heavy, expensive, not too pretty

    I only took delivery of this machine a few days ago so can't really comment on the durability - yet! BUT this machine is fantastic. The first time I used it I had to keep checking it was still on - it is soooo quiet! It has cleaned my 4 year old sons park soiled jeans beautifully and left them easy to iron.

    • Cons: Breaks down

    Mine broke down in second week of purchase - needing a new "brain" they said. It then manage to trip its heater 2 months later and the drier fail. Engineer said this was due to me overloading it. Turns out you can only dry 2.5 kg of clothes. What is the point of that ??? its half a load. He then charged me £100 DESPITE the 5 year guarentee saying it was my fault. For a £1,000 this machin...     • Pros: Quiet, every feature you could want, seems really well built
    • Cons: Heavy, Expensive

    Same the other reviews. I am totally happy with after 1 week.

    It's simple for basic use but you need the manual for features like the built-in load weighing, detergent amount readout, variable pre-soak, delayed start, de-fluffing cycle and all the other stuff.

    • Pros: So quiet, efficient and multifunctional - and lovely to look at...
    • Cons: You must read the handbook carefully to get the best peformance...

    Having studied the book carefully (not something I enjoy so I was pleased it was simplisticly worded) I managed to install and operate it within an hour of delivery. Sooo quiet, it really justs hums politely on wash and sighs gently on dryer. The wash functions work well, succesfully cleaning some pretty dire items that my old machine had failed on.
