Great iron, shame about the stainless steel soleplate

By helen spink (22/10/2007)
  • Pros: fantastic power, fast heat up, no leaking
  • Cons: terrible stainless steel soleplate.

After 60 mins of first using this iron I noticed brown marks on the shirts I was ironing. After inspecting the iron soleplate I discovered 2 brown burn marks. I unplugged the iron, read the instruction manual which gave 3 tips on removing these marks depending on how bad they were.I did all 3 and I checked the iron was set at the correct settings and in the end had to use cif and a pan scrub to remove the marks. I just put this down to the iron being new and continued ironing again. After 60 mins again I noticed the iron was sticking to the shirts again. I tired to remove the marks but they were very difficult to remove. I also checked the ironing to see if there was something stuck on them but they were clean. my previous iron had a ceramic soleplate and I never once had this problem. In the end I returned the iron as it was too time consuming cleaning the sole plate all the time. I think this iron would be brilliant if it was made with a ceramic sole plate,as all the other functions were first class. I vow never to buy an iron with a stainless steel soleplate again
