Beware: Not for pastry and dough mixing

By Anonymous (28/05/2008)
  • Pros: Powerfull motor
  • Cons: Bad design of spindle and blade grips.

I purchased it mainly for dough and pastry making. However, the powerfull motor does not drive good stirdily built parts. The plastic spindle and the insufficient grips inside the blades attachments are badly designed.
Within a year I have had to return the food processor four times for repairs(having new spindle and a new blade each time).
While following the instructions strictly to the Magimix cookery book, it still somehow managed for the blade to mount tight onto the spindle. This would happen before all ingredients were mixed together properly. Since the mixing bowl and the blade were permanently fixed to
the base, the bowl and the blade would have to be returned to Magimix workshop for safe dismantling of the parts.
I have had a smaller of the Magimix models for many years and never had a problem and that one, I have always said it was the best gadget in my kitchen. Unfortunately I am stack with the Magimix 5200XL and if I had not purchased it on the Internet I would have definitely returned it to the shop for a refund.
