Built in obsolescence

  • Pros: Easy to use, reasonable cleaning
  • Cons: Rubbish quality, planned short life, bad company, expensive parts

The door had a few problems- we ended up having it changed for a new one.
It was difficult to clean down in its' depths.
What was incredible was that they put the control panel at the top of the door (quite normal) but they did not have it sealed so when water got in it blew the PCB.
A call to the manufacturers then told me the engineer would cost about £80 to come out and the the combined price of this and replacing the part was more than the cost of a new one!
They must have designed the thing so that this would happen.
I also found that the manufacturer does not give out information to independnt engineers so they make more money.
I would avoid Stoves products altogether- our cooker hood also blew and does not work.
I don't think they know what 'Customer Service' actually means!
